Gideon Reid is a freshman at the University of South Carolina, where she studies biology and neuroscience. Her poetry and essays have been published in Canvas Literary Journal, Writing South Carolina, and others. She was the runner-up for the Leonard L. Milberg Poetry Prize, a six-time national gold medalist in the Scholastic Writing Awards, and a participant in The Adroit Journal’s 2023 summer nonfiction mentorship. Her first book, A Whistle in the Dark, was published in May. When not writing, she can be found sewing costumes, making art, and mucking about in the woods.
